Metro Pacific Investments Foundation (MPIF), the corporate social responsibility arm of Metro Pacific Investments Corporation (MPIC), recently signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) to provide a total of P12 million in funding, equivalent to ₱3 million annually for four years to support the continued protection of the Tubbataha Reefs Natural Park (TRNP). This includes research initiatives, protection activities, and community-based efforts, in partnership with the Tubbataha Protected Area Management Board (TPAMB) and Friends of Tubbataha Inc. (FOT).

Weekend yet — a nationwide annual marine conservation initiative that mobilized communities across eight partner sites: Del Carmen, Siargao; Alaminos, Pangasinan; Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro; Medina, Misamis Oriental; Cordova, Cebu; Marinduque; Mabini, Batangas; as well as partner organizations Tubbataha Reefs Management Office and the Resort Owners Association of Mabini, Batangas.

Metro Pacific Investments Foundation (MPIF), together with partner local government units and environmental organizations, is set to mount Shore It Up! Weekend 2026, a nationwide marine conservation initiative that will be implemented across eight partner sites: Del Carmen in Surigao del Norte, Alaminos City in Pangasinan, Puerto Galera in Oriental Mindoro, Medina in Misamis Oriental, Cordova in Cebu, the Province of Marinduque, Tubbataha Reefs Natural Park, and the Resort Owners Association of Mabini in Batangas.

Critical findings on the problems facing marine biodiversity, climate resilience, and sustainable living were shared by two leading environmental experts: Dr. Wilfredo Licuanan, a Principal Investigator at the Br. Alfred Shields FSC Ocean Research (SHORE) Center of De La Salle University, and Rodne Galicha, Executive Director of the Living Laudato Si’ Movement Philippines.

Del Rosario’s talk presented the vulnerability of the Philippines, a country located in the typhoon belt and the ring of fire, as well as the various risks it faces.
